J&FJ Baker's Oak Bark leather is renowned for its exceptional quality and is considered one of the finest types of leather available in the world. Here's more detail about this remarkable material:
Traditional Tanning Process: J&FJ Baker's Oak Bark leather is produced using a traditional tanning process that dates back centuries. This process involves tanning the leather with oak bark extracts, which are rich in tannins. The hides are soaked in a series of oak bark liquors over a period of several months, allowing the tannins to gradually penetrate the leather fibers. This slow and meticulous process results in leather that is incredibly strong, durable, and resistant to stretching and shrinking.
Suppleness and Strength: One of the defining characteristics of J&FJ Baker's Oak Bark leather is its unique combination of suppleness and strength. Despite its remarkable durability, this leather remains supple and flexible, making it comfortable to wear and allowing it to conform to the body over time. This balance of softness and resilience sets Oak Bark leather apart from other types of leather and makes it highly sought after by discerning craftsmen and artisans.
Natural Aging and Patina: Another distinctive feature of Oak Bark leather is its ability to develop a rich patina over time. As the leather ages, it acquires a unique character and depth of color, reflecting the natural oils and waxes present in the hide. This natural aging process enhances the beauty of the leather, giving it a timeless and distinguished appearance that only improves with age.
Sustainability and Environmental Benefits: J&FJ Baker is committed to sustainable and environmentally responsible practices. The oak bark used in the tanning process is sourced from sustainable forests, ensuring that the leather production has minimal impact on the environment. Additionally, the traditional tanning methods employed by J&FJ Baker are free from harsh chemicals and rely on natural ingredients, making Oak Bark leather an eco-friendly choice for consumers who value sustainability.
Overall, J&FJ Baker's Oak Bark leather represents the pinnacle of leather craftsmanship, combining centuries-old techniques with modern innovation to create a material that is both luxurious and enduring. Whether used in the creation of belts, bags, shoes, or other leather goods, Oak Bark leather is sure to elevate any product to new heights of quality and sophistication.

Most of our belts have 6 holes, all 1" apart. We measure our belts from the tip of the buckle to the 3 central holes for best recommended fit. The 2nd, 3rd or 4th holes give you room to wear them at different points and for the best balance on the belt.
All belt manufacturers can and do measure belts from and to different points, so please be sure to use a tape measure using our method, or we recommend measuring around the point you'd like to wear the belt, and matching this up to the tape measurement guide.
To measure for a hat, we'd recommend measuring from the back of the crown to the forehead at the point you'd like to wear it.
