What Does the Guarantee Cover?

Our dog collars, leads and other dog accessories are made for everyday use, but dog gear naturally has a harder life than most leather accessories.

For that reason, our lifetime guarantee does not apply to dog products in the same way as it does to our other collections. However, if a dog collar, lead or accessory develops a genuine fault as a result of defective materials or workmanship, we will always assess it and repair it free of charge wherever possible.

Dog products do require regular care and inspection. Leather, Biothane, stitching, rivets and hardware can all show wear over time, particularly when exposed to water, mud, pulling, rough play and frequent outdoor use.

Even Biothane should be cleaned and checked regularly, especially around fixings and areas of repeated movement.

Please also remember that no collar or lead is chew proof. Damage caused by chewing, biting, cutting, excessive abrasion, accidental damage or inappropriate use is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered by our guarantee.

We recommend checking your dog's collar and lead regularly and replacing or repairing any item that shows significant wear before continued use.

Hair-on-Hide

Hair-on-hide is a natural material and some hair loss can occur through friction and wear.

For this reason, the wearing or shedding of hair from hair-on-hide products is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered by our guarantee.

Feather Belts

The feathers used in some of our belts are a natural material and have a finite lifespan, particularly if they are exposed to repeated friction or moisture. We have formulated a special protective coating, but as delicate real feathers they do need to be taken care of.

If the feathers begin to look slightly fluffy, a light coating of clear nail varnish can help protect them.

If they eventually need replacing, we can replace the feather section for £20.

Zips

We use the most high-quality zips in the world - chosen for durability, but zip damage caused through wear, strain or accidental damage is not covered by our guarantee.

We can usually replace a zip if required. Because replacing a zip often involves taking much of the product apart and rebuilding it, this is a labour-intensive repair and a charge will apply.

Please contact us before returning an item so that we can advise on the likely cost.

TLC Service

Good leather should improve with age, but sometimes it benefits from a little attention.

Our TLC Service is designed to give well-loved Mackenzie & George belts a refresh.

For £15 including return UK postage, we can:

• condition and feed the leather

• refresh the painted edges

• check the belt over for anything that needs attention

Additional belts returned at the same time are £5 each.

Shortening an Existing Belt

If your Mackenzie & George belt no longer fits quite as you would like, we may be able to shorten it in our workshop.

The amount we can remove depends on the construction of the individual belt.

If you are unsure how much needs removing, include a note with the belt or contact us and we can advise. Some belt designs can only be shortened by a maximum of approximately 2 inches because of their construction. If you are unsure whether your belt can be altered, please contact us before sending it.

Adding Personalisation to an Existing Piece

In many cases, we can also add personalisation to a Mackenzie & George product you already own.

This may include options such as initials, debossing, foil personalisation, laser message or design or an engraved brass plate, depending on the product and how it was originally constructed.

Not every style can be personalised after it has been made, so please select the relevant product when arranging the service or contact us if you are unsure.

How to Return an Item to Us

Please package your item securely and include your name, order number if available, contact details and a short description of what you would like us to look at.

For guarantee repairs, customers are responsible for the cost of sending the item to our workshop. We cover the return postage once a qualifying repair has been completed.

For paid repairs, TLC and alteration services, the applicable return postage will be included in the service price where stated.

For guarantee repairs, customers are responsible for the cost of sending the item to our workshop. We cover the return postage once a qualifying repair has been completed.

For paid repairs, TLC and alteration services, the applicable return postage will be included in the service price where stated.

Dog Collars & Leads

Our dog collars, leads and other dog accessories are made for everyday use, but dog gear naturally has a harder life than most leather accessories.

For that reason, our lifetime guarantee does not apply to dog products in the same way as it does to our other collections. However, if a dog collar, lead or accessory develops a genuine fault as a result of defective materials or workmanship, we will always assess it and repair it free of charge wherever possible.

Dog products do require regular care and inspection. Leather, Biothane, stitching, rivets and hardware can all show wear over time, particularly when exposed to water, mud, pulling, rough play and frequent outdoor use.

Even Biothane should be cleaned and checked regularly, especially around fixings and areas of repeated movement.

Please also remember that no collar or lead is chew proof. Damage caused by chewing, biting, cutting, excessive abrasion, accidental damage or inappropriate use is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered by our guarantee.

We recommend checking your dog's collar and lead regularly and replacing or repairing any item that shows significant wear before continued use.

Hair-on-Hide

Hair-on-hide is a natural material and some hair loss can occur through friction and wear.

For this reason, the wearing or shedding of hair from hair-on-hide products is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered by our guarantee.

Feather Belts

The feathers used in some of our belts are a natural material and have a finite lifespan, particularly if they are exposed to repeated friction or moisture. We have formulated a special protective coating, but as delicate real feathers they do need to be taken care of.

If the feathers begin to look slightly fluffy, a light coating of clear nail varnish can help protect them.

If they eventually need replacing, we can replace the feather section for £20.

Zips

We use the most high-quality zips in the world - chosen for durability, but zip damage caused through wear, strain or accidental damage is not covered by our guarantee.

We can usually replace a zip if required. Because replacing a zip often involves taking much of the product apart and rebuilding it, this is a labour-intensive repair and a charge will apply.

TLC Service

Good leather should improve with age, but sometimes it benefits from a little attention.

Our TLC Service is designed to give well-loved Mackenzie & George belts a refresh.

For £15 including return UK postage, we can:

• condition and feed the leather

• refresh the painted edges

• check the belt over for anything that needs attention

Additional belts returned at the same time are £5 each.

Shortening an Existing Belt

If your Mackenzie & George belt no longer fits quite as you would like, we may be able to shorten it in our workshop.

The amount we can remove depends on the construction of the individual belt.

If you are unsure how much needs removing, include a note with the belt or contact us and we can advise. Some belt designs can only be shortened by a maximum of approximately 2 inches because of their construction. If you are unsure whether your belt can be altered, please contact us before sending it.

In many cases, we can also add personalisation to a Mackenzie & George product you already own.

If they eventually need replacing, we can replace the feather section for £20.

We use the most high-quality zips in the world - chosen for durability, but zip damage caused through wear, strain or accidental damage is not covered by our guarantee.

If your Mackenzie & George belt no longer fits quite as you would like, we may be able to shorten it in our workshop.

The feathers used in some of our belts are a natural material and have a finite lifespan, particularly if they are exposed to repeated friction or moisture. We have formulated a special protective coating, but as delicate real feathers they do need to be taken care of.

If the feathers begin to look slightly fluffy, a light coating of clear nail varnish can help protect them.

If they eventually need replacing, we can replace the feather section for £20.

Zips

We use the most high-quality zips in the world - chosen for durability, but zip damage caused through wear, strain or accidental damage is not covered by our guarantee.

We can usually replace a zip if required. Because replacing a zip often involves taking much of the product apart and rebuilding it, this is a labour-intensive repair and a charge will apply.

TLC Service

Good leather should improve with age, but sometimes it benefits from a little attention.

Our TLC Service is designed to give well-loved Mackenzie & George belts a refresh.

For £15 including return UK postage, we can:

• condition and feed the leather

• refresh the painted edges

• check the belt over for anything that needs attention

Additional belts returned at the same time are £5 each.

Shortening an Existing Belt

If your Mackenzie & George belt no longer fits quite as you would like, we may be able to shorten it in our workshop.

The amount we can remove depends on the construction of the individual belt.

If you are unsure how much needs removing, include a note with the belt or contact us and we can advise. Some belt designs can only be shortened by a maximum of approximately 2 inches because of their construction. If you are unsure whether your belt can be altered, please contact us before sending it.

Adding Personalisation to an Existing Piece

In many cases, we can also add personalisation to a Mackenzie & George product you already own.

This may include options such as initials, debossing, foil personalisation, laser message or design or an engraved brass plate, depending on the product and how it was originally constructed.

Not every style can be personalised after it has been made, so please select the relevant product when arranging the service or contact us if you are unsure.

How to Return an Item to Us

Please package your item securely and include your name, order number if available, contact details and a short description of what you would like us to look at.

For guarantee repairs, customers are responsible for the cost of sending the item to our workshop. We cover the return postage once a qualifying repair has been completed.

For paid repairs, TLC and alteration services, the applicable return postage will be included in the service price where stated.

1. Measure with tape measure

[ Recommended ]

The most accurate and simplest way to find the perfect size. Just measure an existing belt from the TOP of the buckle (where the pin meets the outer edge of the buckle) to your most worn hole (usually evident by a crease in the leather).  

Or simply wrap a tape measure around yourself at the point you will wear the belt, and use that measurement.

Use this measurement to choose your belt based on the 'Tape Measurement' column below. 

2. Use our guide

This is a less accurate method, but the below should give you a rough guideline of what size to buy.

Sizing in depth

Most of our belts have 6 holes, all 1" apart, and we recommend best fit to be in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th holes giving you room to wear them at different points and for the best balance on the belt. 

Returns and exchanges are hassle free in the UK with M&G. Simply log into your account to request your exchange/return, and once approved we will send you across a returns label to drop off at a post office.

We offer a 90 day exchange and returns policy, and just ask your item is returned in a re-sellable condition and original packaging.  Please be aware sale items (other than from a  Black Friday event) are not valid for free returns or exchanges, neither are bespoke or personalised item.

Our Guarantee

If your Mackenzie & George product develops a fault as a result of defective materials or workmanship, we will repair it free of charge.

Simply return the item to our workshop in Shropshire and our team will assess it and carry out the appropriate repair wherever possible.

As a small British manufacturer, we ask customers to cover the cost of sending the item to us. Once repaired under our guarantee, we will cover the postage back to you.

Our guarantee is in addition to your usual statutory consumer rights.

What Does the Guarantee Cover?

Our guarantee covers faults caused by the materials or workmanship used in making your product.

It does not cover normal wear and tear, accidental damage, misuse or the natural ageing of leather and other materials.

Leather is a natural material and will soften, darken, mark and develop character with use. We consider this part of what makes a well-used leather product unique.

Dog Collars & Leads

Our dog collars, leads and other dog accessories are made for everyday use, but dog gear naturally has a harder life than most leather accessories.

For that reason, our lifetime guarantee does not apply to dog products in the same way as it does to our other collections. However, if a dog collar, lead or accessory develops a genuine fault as a result of defective materials or workmanship, we will always assess it and repair it free of charge wherever possible.

Dog products do require regular care and inspection. Leather, Biothane, stitching, rivets and hardware can all show wear over time, particularly when exposed to water, mud, pulling, rough play and frequent outdoor use.

Even Biothane should be cleaned and checked regularly, especially around fixings and areas of repeated movement.

Please also remember that no collar or lead is chew proof. Damage caused by chewing, biting, cutting, excessive abrasion, accidental damage or inappropriate use is not considered a manufacturing fault and is not covered by our guarantee.

We recommend checking your dog's collar and lead regularly and replacing or repairing any item that shows significant wear before continued use.

Hair-on-Hide
